A Canadian christmas in The Netherlands

Without the chance to see my family this year for Christmas, I decided to bring some of the traditions I normally celebrate in Canada to the table in The Netherlands for my husband's family and friends. My classics: tofurkey, mashed taters and veg gravy were on the list. But also for the first time I made some of my grandmother's recipes for shortbread cookies and two family vegetable dishes. But one of the best parts of my day was receiving hand drawn art from the neighbour's children who enjoyed the cookies I sent over so much they wanted to thank me with a surprise card and drawing in the mailbox. To build a light in the centre of shadow, is easier and more powerful than you think...Love to you all and happy holidays, x Layla
