I am sitting here trying to decide what to write about how I feel this morning on the release of my 18th full length album, (19th musical release when including 'The Bluebird's Egg' single) in the past 19 years. It's honestly surreal. I always have trouble looking back at my career and struggle to see it through the eyes of others, and am always looking forward at what I can do next, how to scrape together the money to make the next album, how to work hard enough to get enough gigs each year to remain present and relevant in a sometimes soul destroying business. But today I do look back with rose coloured glasses, and I am proud of what I have achieved. And so grateful to all the people who helped me to get to this point. The new album (and Blu-ray film) "Into the Blue - Live in Concert" is an audio and video experience, and I wanted to share and release a project like this independently for so many years, so this really feels special today. It is dedicated to my father and to my fans, and is being released today on my father's birthday for a reason, as he inspired me in many ways to pursue music, and he introduced me to alot of the music I still listen to today, including most of the cover songs I performed on this live release. I hope you will enjoy listening to and watching it, as much as I did making it. Special thanks to Martin and Moritz Meinschaefer, Jeff Aug, Nora van Rijn, Optimal and AL!VE, all the photographers, Harmonie in Bonn, Ozzy van der Loo and most of all to the musicians who made magic on stage with me that night Krissy Matthews (guitar), Josh Rigal (bass) and Felix Dehmel (drums). Physical copies are available online through many distributors in your countries, on all digital platforms (except for Spotify) and through my website www.layla.ca/shop ...and anyone who purchases an album from my shop today will receive a bonus gift in celebration of the release. Thank you all for your ongoing support, although my tour has been postponed due to health reasons I feel courage and strength today as I release this new project to the world, and the dates for my new tour in 2025 will be announced this week on my website.
See you all on stage next year, in love-music-gratitude always, LaylaÂ
